Crappie

Post by Flint River Pirate »

What is the word on crappie (some say specks), minnows or jigs? I have always had better luck fishing jigs but some folks wouldn't fish with anything but live bait. It is getting right in the crappie waters and I was just curious what you guys thought. Maybe GULP minnows?!?!?!?

I have had good luck with jigs, or jigs tipped with minnows. Either trolling or pitching. Minnows under a cork is good too.

Minnows or hall flies for me, I use the jigs to find them and the minnows once i'm in them. One night in the 40's to low 50's will have them biting in the ochlockonee.

Took a boat ride on the river on Wednesday afternoon and there is plenty of water maybe even a bit high. Made 25 casts caught a dinker bass on a fluke.
