Trolling Motor recommendations

Post by caseycook »

I'm looking at getting a new trolling motor for my boat. The boat is a 17' Triton Aluminum flats boat. Does anybody have any recommendations?

Has anyone tried the t.m.'s that keep you on your course adjusting for any wind change?

Any brands I should avoid?

Thanks!

I like my 24V Motor Guide. I just wish now that I had the foot control/remote operated model, but you live and learn.

Casey - check out my synopsis in this thread - http://www.bigbendfishing.net/phpbb/vie ... hp?t=15313

The autopilot works great, you want the remote if you're gonna stand on the polin tower or a small casting deck, but otherwise, I give the foot control   and the wireless is more of what I'd call 'good idea, not quite as good execution'

Autopilot though, I give that a thumbs up, just remember it's going to maintain a compass heading and not actually follow the line you're fishing, so you'll need to be prepared to make minor course adjustments frequently, which I personally find is best done with your foot, leaving your hands free to catch 'casey cook' redfish
Mookbait! At least 401 times better than live bait!

He who have signature line make bigger post.
