Squeezed in a quick trip to the coast today-
One of my good friends from Atlanta via Calhoun County is in town for the weekend.
We were going offshore but the weather looked ominous.

So we saved the day with an inshore trip...
We put the boat in after lunch and headed out to check a few spots.

First keeper on topwater... 20"

Jonathan hooked into a nice Snot cat on a jig under Cajun thunder.

Then came some extra fun.. I hooked into a NICE fish and it was pulling funny... I thought Catfish? then it rolled and I could see TROUT!
Image
As it got closer to the boat I could see how pracirously it was hooked-
Jonathan did a fantastic net job and it was in the boat
It was hooked in the back- Must have swiped at the plug and then hooked itself.

24 inches!!

Jonathan had a jack slam his jig and make the drag sing... Those are pullin fish!!
Image
I caught a few more trout- two more nice keepers... 20" and 16"
Then this blew in...
Image
Finished the day with early dinner at Hookwrecks... Blackened Grouper sandwich... :lick: :lick:
Totals
4 keeper trout
at least 7 shorts
2 Snot cats
1 Jack
And I lost one other nice trout.
Jonathan caught fish but didn't put a keeper in the box.

The little on is 16" :P :-D :-D

Today really made me wish I could come back and fish the tourney---
This was after less than 4 hours on the water And we didn't get to fish the best part of the tide.

Reel Slow- We were the wet ones!!
I looked at you and thought I know that guy-
But you were too clean and didn't smell fishy!

I wish you had said hi.
