Team Daiwa Luna v. Shimano Calcutta

Post by Squall Line »

Dose anyone have experience with the two? I am looking at the Luna 203 and the Calcutta 200GTB... The nod goes to the Calcutta for retrieve speed and weight, but I'm not a fan of the plastic line guide (nitpick I know)... The only real deciding factor comes down to cast control. I have never used a centrifugal braking system; how is the casting distance and adjustably as compared to something like the magnetic system on the Luna? I pretty much have my mind made up, but wanted some advice before pulling the trigger. The reel will be going on a ML/ extra fast St. Croix with the intention of throwing lighter offerings/ finesse. It will be spooled up with 10lb mono. For comparisons sake the bait casters I own are all Ambassador C4s.

Thanks!

Shimano's centrifical system is much better than any magnetic system. Shimano , no doubt.
What was I supposed to do today?

Why do most distance casting reels use magnets then ?

Stay away of magnets for saltwater use they have parts that will rust on you :thumbdown:believe me I work on enough of them I know. The ABU revo centrifugal model is what you need  but if you want one that is over priced and built about the same as the new 5500 abu's get the Calcutta :-?
