I have a long list of folks I want to thank. First off will be NOAA and the good folks at the weather channel. I no longer will take the time to check the forecast because it is always wrong. Seas were forecast to be between 1 and 2 feet Saturday with a light chop in the bays and protected waters. I launched the boat at Keaton around 7:30 am and was greeted by 2-3 waves stacked up outside the channel. Rough morning.
I had packed the boat up Friday evening with the intent of going out into 45-50 foot of water and catch some grunts, bass, and if luck would allow me, a grouper or two. Lucky for me that I have about as much faith in NOAA as any other government office, and packed my flats gear too. Headed out to five foot of water and proceeded to fish for some trout, while my wife, the eternal optimist, proceeded to catch pinfish for the trip offshore that I told her we would not be taking.
I put on a rootbeer colored grub and cast it into the frothy seas. BAM!!! Rod’s bent and it feels good all the way to my shoulder. Get the net. I bring up the biggest dadgum lizard fish I’ve ever seen. It went almost 24â€

If we are not supposed to eat animals, why are they made out of meat?

Try fishing in a kayak. I was anchored up inside a creek when i heard an airboat. I was next to a grassy bank and waved my paddle so the Airboat would not run over me. Anotehr kayaker was anchored up 20 feet away and were lines wet. The airboat pulled up 50 feet away and dropped anchor and started fishing right in front of me. After 5 minutes he left and I caught a 26" Red when he did. Thanks Richard.
Tritonman, I came in around that time. When I got back into the No Wake Zone a guy at the end of the pier had something on his rod and I stopped to watch him reel up a big stingray. There was an older dual console boat behind me and a boat waiting at the dock, I think it was GA. registered. Either of them you?

It's becoming a common occurrence in KB. I think some of them are new to the area and just trying to play "follow the leader". See my previous fishing report. I've seen people with a nice boat veering off from the 3 or 4th channel marker during low tide.Tritonman wrote:I was there Saturday also, everthing you said was true about people driving thru your drift it happened to us several times.?
