Econfina 10/13

Post by Ron Wilson »

Another one-day turnaround trip to Econfina. Left the house around 0500, made it to the boat ramp a little after 0700. Met with stiff winds and a decent chop. Started west in about 3-4' of water.....nothing. Moved to the Aucilla flats.....nothing. Moved toward some creeks. Outgoing tide forced me to get out and push a few times.......saw lots of mullet, but didn't get jack. Floated out to Cobb rock area and picked up some trash fish and some shorts. Moved to 5-7" feet of water and picked up one keeper, some more shorts (trout and seabass) and trash fish. Figured what the heck, let's run to the St. Mark's reef. Wasted trip, boat was sitting on top of the reef, so we turned around and headed back to the shallows. Followed trace of outbound fishing path and got about the same. Picked up a couple more keepers, then decided to head to the hill at 3:30. Had a dinner party to go to. Got home around 1900, parked the boat, grabbed a shower and was drinking  by 1930. Cleaned boat and fish yesterday and ate the trout tonight. :lick:

Did manage to hit a couple rocks this time, with the outgoing tide, but expected to do so and was traveling SLOW. Other than a couple nicks, no real damage.

I found several new "underwater obstructions" inside Cobb Rocks
Fri and Sat mornings. Character building at its finest!

My original 4 blade prop is down to 2 and one half blades!
It may be that my sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

a little customization from the Econfina just means you're taking that boat into fishy territory Ron. Thanks for the report.
