Water Temperature????

Post by Troutinator »

Did anyone happen to notice what the Water Temperatures were on the Gulf out of St. Marks towards Grey Mare were on Saturday????
I was out there and think that I need to have my Temperature Guage checked out, it was reading cooler than what I had heard about....

Also, other than a fire under it, what is the easiest way to check the gauge?????

Thanks in advance for the info.

Turn yer depth finder on at the house, compare the temp reading from it to a thermometer that is held close to the same spot as the transducer :-D The river was at 76 on Saturday morning, the bay should be close to that

I haven't been out since Tuesday evening, but around sunset Tuesday of last week it was about 75 +/-1 degree here and there. Lots of cool air come in since then, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was cooler. I heard from a friend that the outgoing tide was low 70's Saturday, and that it warmed up significantly on the incoming, so maybe what you heard about and what you got were on different sides of the tide?

St. Joe Bay seemed to be in the low 70s. I was surprised how chilly it was.

I got a reading of 70 degrees in the Aucilla river about mid morning and up to about 74 degrees on the flats by mid afternoon. You have me curious, what readings were you getting Troutinator ?

Went to the flats Tuesday, 16Oct.at Aucilla. The water temp on the flats there was 73.5 degrees the two or three times I checked. River was slightly cooler.. I hadn't been fishing in about 5 weeks....the water temp was down at least 10 degrees in that time.
