Mayport 10/12/07

Post by Breambuster »

Ddb and I went down to Mayport to fish on the King Neptune partyboat last Friday and had a decent day. Caught a pretty good size shark right off the bat. Hard to tell from the pict but it was probably 8' long and weight 200-250lb. I want to keep the fish for a fish fry but Captain Scott wont listen to me :-D . Came home with 2 grouper, a mutton snapper and an AJ that feed a dozen people.

finally got it to the surface

Since I was not allowed to keep it, I asked for the hook back but was ignored as well :smt012

finally swam away

Very nice report, catch, and pictures. As far as fishing on a party boat... when you know what your doing you can be very successful fishing from them! Good job.
"Good Judgement" comes from experience, ... and a lot of that..... results from "Bad Judgement".

Nice catch........we're doing the party boat this weekend out of PC. Went last year and was fairly skeptical, but the captain put us on some nice fish and it was the best $50 I've spent in a while for offshore fishing

That and a lot of tolerance on tangles and loosing fish due to other people mistakes. Its the best you can do when you dont have an offshore worthy boat.

Negative on one of Anderson's.....I've heard they are not very good and keeper fish off one is very minimal......don't know for sure, just what I have been told.

Will definately report with pics...

Back in the day Capt.Andersons boats put you on the fish .But in the last 10 years I have not been impressed at all.The deck hands seem to want to catch the fish for you and only 1 or 2 nice fish on the whole boat ..I have caught several nice grouper on Capt Andersons boats but that was prolly 10 or 15 years ago. I try and stick to charter boats for that reason ...it is just hard to get a group up to split the cost. Might have to check out the King Neptune.
