I recommend Propco

Post by Redbelly »

Because my boat now has a hole shot. My 4 stroke feels like a 2 stroke!
From the recommendation of Peter at Propco, I put a 3 bladed SS 12 X 10 on my tunnel. I have increased rpms to 5800-6000, and I really think my top end is increased. I got up on plane in about 2 seconds.

I was "overpropped" before. The only thing I feel I need to do is add a Bob's stabilizer plate to eliminte cavitation when jacked up to max height.

Peter knows his stuff fellas.

12" diameter X 10 pitch or vice versa? How dose it hold in the turns? blowout? How is the cup on it?

SL it IS a 12" X 10" , big looking thang too. Not what i would call a lot of cup. It is a off the shelf prop. In Turns @ wot there is blowout. I think once I get the Bob's SP on there that will alleviate the BO.

But I ain't often making turns @ wot! :o I slows down a little.

i was at Miccosukke trying things out, and got to ride all over with a fella trying out his new airboat. Said he needed some weight up front for the trial....

WooHoo!!! :-D

Glad you have some figures to share with us..think if you had bought that tach a year ago...you would of been getting on plane quicker a year ago

Well...I got the boat last Jan I think. Then I had motor issues (carbs) for about 8 weeks, then finally got it straight. Then it was time to fish, and I got very busy this spring /summer. So yeah if I had initially done this tach thing I would not have bothered y'all with all this prop talk.
But.....what else ya got to do sitting on the puter? :-D

I also knew nothing about props and tachs till I learned after getting this boat.
I appreciate all of y'alls input and help! :D

But I am glad I waited and found out what I did, cause a 4 blade prop might have discouraged me terribly by not performing the way I wanted.

When I put the stabilizer plate on I'll report the positive or negatives.

Propco - Peter is extremley knowledgeable when it comes to props, and his wife knows a thing or two herself. Always been very helpful when I have needed or had a problem with props.
Very interesting people also. He used to race speed boats in his younger days and holds some records and championships. Got some cool pictures in their office at the plant. And some stories to go with them.
