Ken, that advertising slogan/logo must change.
I went to every section of the Forum looking at the ads at the top of the pages ,just to check, before I posted that question.
They have just been launched in the UK.
$19 (equivalent) for a packet of 15 bits.
Phrases like "extracting the urine", spring to mind.
I won,t make any more comments about Fishbites ,or more especially, their UK Distributor, so as not to embarass Tom.

Seems like I give DOA's a chance just about every year because someone is always "tearin em up" on them. Like Old Dog. But try as I might, I just can't seem to catch fish on them. It is probably the way I fish them I can almost guarantee, but I have really given them the old "college try" and have failed....miserably.
I have not failed with fishbites.

my .02 DOA's = pricey. I have thrown enough money around on boat ownership and a fishing addiction to draw the line on how much I will pay for a lure - especially a plastic. Now when they make them out of Kevlar I will look again. I have had some success with DOA's, but the success did not exceed or sometimes match a plain old sure ketch/grub etc. Maybe I should tip DOA's with FB.
Seriously. DOA's seem to be lifelike, but fragile. I wold just as soon buy cheap live or dead shrimp than use a DOA. Maybe I am a p-poor fisherman, but 5 strikes on a DOA = dead DOA, I think I can put 12 or more live shrimp on a hook for less, any leftovers I eat. FB's work - pretty sure about that and I know if you cut it small enough to accomodate the targeted species, stuff works.
I only flats fish btw. More experimentation is due. In the meantime, I will be catching fish.

for petes sake
TK,
When you got nothing to do, some day between 1-3 days after a new moon or a full moon, and the weather's not too bad, invite me to fish with you out of the lighthouse or Econfina (leave ramp by 8:00 a.m.) and I'll be glad to meet you at the ramp and demonstrate this very simple DOA shrimp fishing method. It'll surprise you at how simple it is -- hell, even Cran can catch trout with 'em, so you know this ain't near as hard as catching foxes in a longnet!

dbp,
Be glad to!
I'm totally retarded (from attempting to communicate with Ken, Cran and Chalk)
Are you the one with the 1720 KW? I have a '91, 1700 Kw that I'm having a little bit of trouble getting a waterpump kit for my V-4 Suzuki, so I'm dry-docked.
I'll fish anytime, with anybody, well, maybe not Ken, Cran and Chalk!
I'm thinking you live in my neighborhood, maybe on Delvin? IM me, anytime!

OK, I'll throw my .02 into this one.
It's a matter of fishing style, and , more importantly, confidence.
Fishbites work. They're the best pinfish bait I've ever used. I've also had some success using FB for trout. Cran, the UK price you posted seems a little steep to me. I would think a man of your resources would have some stateside friend send you some at a much lesser price, possibly along with Key Lime Pie ingredients.
LC, I've fished with Old Dog. DOA's work. But they don't work for me. You mentioned freelining the DOA's. That's primarily how Old Dog fishes them. I have no confidence in that method of fishing. For what it's worth, I've also fished with Ken and Tom. All three of the above mentioned are excellant fishermen. However, all three of them use different techniques and presentations.
I'll say again, it's a matter of fishing style and confidence. Everyone has a "go to" bait they have confidence in. As does most everyone on this site, I have more baits than I know what to do with. I fish with four baits.

What was I supposed to do today?
tc,
I know what you mean by having confidence in using a bait or lure.
I, long ago, put it aside and figure it's more a matter of determination and learning how to fish something at any given time.
Sometimes, it ain't all that good fishing, regardless of what you use, if they aren't bititing for some reason.
But, I do have patience and usually do succeed, but not always.
I don't get all, uptight to produce, and have learned to enjoy fishing like a real young kid, and it's mostly a fun thing, unless the lightning starts to make my hair tingle.

Ken,
Cran is starting to get worried that if Fishbites catches on in the U.K., he's not going to have an advantage using his secret mixture of bread flake and the X ingredient, and that he'll have competition with others catching mullet.
It ain't the money!
He's saved so much over the last 30 years, buying cheap SHIMANO's that he could buy FB by the bales!
