Lanark 11/03

Post by leonreno »

Fished out of Lanark Saturday mostly around Lanark Reef and the flats to the North of it near FSU lab, found lots of small spotted trout shallow, then started finding a few more larger spotted trout in deeper water. Then found a good bunch of white trout in said deeper water. And these were large white trout, at least half of the 30 or so we caught would have been legal spotted trout. Kept 7 spotted and 20 white trout. Released the smaller of the white trout and kept the larger ones for the broiler and the pan. Depth was about 5.5' to 8' deep for the trout, had to get the bait/lure down to the bottom for them to bite. The water was fairly stained and the temp was lower than I expected. About 60 degrees at 9:30 am and warmed up to about 67 in the after noon. Oh gulps and cut bait worked best for the whites, and the spots were fairly frisky caught some on x-rap, shrimp coctails w/CT, CT w/ bait, gulps, and jerkbaits.

Thanks for the report. I have a couple of friends / clients coming in to fish Friday through Sunday. I expect we will be fishing Turkey Point Shoals and Lanark area a good bit. Your results and tips are very encouraging.
