Took my 9 yo son deer hunting today and he got his 1st deer. He used a 7mm-08 his grandfather gave him. Made an excellent shot through both shoulders. I was extremely proud.

Yup, they will always remember that first one.....

I can still remember I could hear my heart beating louder than the gunshot....

Congrats feels good don't it? ...my oldest (12) got his second one last Sunday. He got his first one when he was 7 ..had to wait a few years for the second ...maybe it was because I wasn't in the stand with him for this one.She was a little small but he was excited and did it all by himself . Already smoked both hams and they was :lick: I will be making some jerkey with some of the scraps and shoulders .....Neck shot with a .243 at 75 yards. They grow up fast keep em in the woods or on the water.

BD,
Nothing better than spending time in the woods/outdoors with your kids. Congrats to you both. Still remember my son's first deer, and his reaction after the fact.

Thanks for sharing.
