After a 2-1/2 week trip to the California desert, I was hurting for a Fall fishing trip. I woke up this morning and decided enough was enough. Original plan was to scout Woodducks (locally) at sunrise to develop a plan for opening day next weekend. Had boat hooked up and was finishing a cup of coffee when I figured I'd wing it (pun intended) next weekend with the ducks and decided to head South (with faithful lab "Chase") to give the fishies a try.
Not much beyond this. Decided to launch at LH, but pool was empty, so made tracks for Shell Island. Launched in very skinny water. Tried a couple oyster bars with no luck. Headed to 6-8' of water and picked up a few sea bass as well as some short trout. Headed East and tried a couple creeks. Picked up a nice 19" flounder and one 15-16" trout.
A beautiful day, wind was small and temp was perfect. Got my fix (temporarily); can't wait til the next time.

E'Man: "She's" not bad. Lots of birds out, which always catches her attention. Was in a creek when a boat jumped a couple hundred ducks and she dayum near left the boat.......cept she knew better

My daughter has a rat terrier (I cut her a deal for the dog and think I lost.....she let me buy a cheap big screen TV ($600) and she got a small dog she'd been wanting). Sometimes I wonder if she (the rat terrier) has got her head and tail wired together.
