Rod Problems...

Post by mojokoko »

The top rod tip of one of my Allstar rods is missing the inner ring. The ring at the tip of the rod is there but the inner ring fell off. Am I going to have to buy a new rod tip or can I somehow glue one in there?

How old is your allstar rod? Mine in the past were guaranteed for at least 3 years. I would regularly send them back when I had a malfunction and they would send me a brand new one. If its too old take it to a rod repair shop and have them put you a new one on. You can also do it yourself but on an expensive rod like that I prefer to pay just a few dollars to have it done right.

I've had it less than 3 years. I Honestly think one of my other Allstar rods may have the same problem too.

It's just something that happens with ceramic ringed guides. It's not a defect or anything. Local tackle shop should be able to put a new one on in just a few minutes for around $10. Easier and cheaper than shipping them back to All Star. The rod tip sees more abuse than the other guides due to reeling lures and sinkers up too far.

Take it to Bill Colson, at Kevin's. He's there Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. He'll replace the tip while you wait.
What was I supposed to do today?

If it is the tip:
A - Heat the rod tip quickly with cigarette lighter (it will melt the glue0
and pull off
Most tackle shops sell tips (Walmart 3 for about 6 bucks with glue)
B - Heat tip glue and stick on quickly. (Make sure it is lined up with other guides)

Easy peasy Have done this many times and takes about 5 minutes.
