Why not UGA!
Georgia is ranked number 4 in the country.
Tennessee is ranked number 14
Georgia is 10-2
Tenessessee 9-3
Tennessee beat Georgia.
Georgia beat Florida and Alabama
Tennessee did not.
So why is Tennessee playing LSU for the SEC championship

SEC championship aside, Georgia is better off not having to play LSU in a title game. I really don't think such a hypothetical game and win for Ga would improve their current and potential BCS standing. Also, its certainly not a given they could beat LSU. That's a "poser" for sure!
The other side of the coin....I've always contended the SEC winner should automatically be in the BCS title game!
I know...opinions like aholes...everyone should have just one!

While I would've bought the tickets for SEC Championship, I'm happy with UT taking that beating and da Dawgs sitting at home resting up for the Miami trip.

It was ours to win or lose and we lost to Tennessee. However, I think that game has turned out to be a much bigger winner for us, because Mark Richt searched his soul and concluded that he needed to be more of a motivator and boy what a motivator he became.
I'm with Rhtfish, I don't think not going to the SEC championship will hurt UGA as much as going could have.
As for why them than us, Tennessee's 3rd loss was to a non-SEC team (California) and that loss doesn't count against them in the SEC race. With that game out, we had an equal SEC east record and they beat us in our match up, the tie breaker. I don't think Tennessee can stay with LSU, but who knows this year.
I think UGA could beat anyone in the country right now if they play with the intensity they exhibited against Alabama, Florida and Auburn.
I predicted way back that we would be 10-2. It has been fun to see our coach and our team grow up this year. GO DAWGS!
