AWESILLY FRIDAY 11/30
Was supposed to go to Keaton at dark thirty with a buddy and got traded in for a Lowndes High game that is tonight.
Was on stand by for Redbelly got the thumbs up in the A.M. from him.
Promptly got a thumbs down from the bride, completed a short list of hers and on my way.
Met up and choked down a quick burger in Thomasville and got on the road south.
Got to silly-ville and was told that ain't much water never having been there before, I had no idea.
Looked good to me we got in his boat we looked like buzzards sitting on a bumble bee but it handled the load well.
Got out around some bars and Redbelly drew first blood, short but a trout and he touched it.
I hung with the top water and stuck a nice one and then another.
This one had one trying to snatch the plug out of it's mouth Carl saw it too.
Then we went through the shorts, he finally iced a keeper to go with the two I had but the rest were all shorts.
We went in close and he got a little Red that was the deal we found water and keepers tough to come by.
The Trout were just slapping at the plug most of the time no telling how many I didn't get to take it.
The trip was short to the point and a nice outing we didn't killem we caught a few and got out on the water.
I would like to go there again and also would like to see the place at it's best.
I really did enjoy the company a lot, it was great to have a ride where I didn't have to do anything but fish.
If you ever get a chance to fish with "Captain Jack" AKA "Redbelly", Carl go for it he is a good host, guide, and fisherman.
About fifty hits, thirty five fish on, twenty five to the boat touched twenty or so, and three went for a ride all in four hours.

We were definitely on the shorts today! The ol' 40 hosspower got us
there and back running that tunnel skinny as Olive Oilsk!
With our weight onboard today I have to hand it to Yamaha!!
Not a bad afternoon on the salty pond, beat werking
At least we got some "pull".

Aucilla Trout -
I was out there in my kayak on 12/1 and had the same experience with the trout slapping at my Skitterwalk. I found a pretty consitent solution.
I rigged a second pole with a Cajun Thunder and a Gulp bait and layed it in my lap in the kayak. When I got a short strike on the topwater plug, I would try to coax the trout into hitting the topwater for about the next 3 to 5 feet of the retrieve.
If that didn't work, I immediately reeled it in and cast back to the same spot with the Cajun Thunder pole, poping the cork once, then letting it sit. Almost every time, I would catch the trout. I was really surprised at how consistently this worked.
I ended the day with about 8 good trout and 6 reds all caught on either topwater or the Cajun Thunder. I won't go back out there without a drift sock though. When that wind picked up I was really moving in the kayak, and had to do a LOT of upwind paddling to repeat my drift.

I was out there on Saturday, not Friday, and I did well enough that I'm not going to say exactly where I was at....
