Up a Creek

Post by RC »

Well this is the first time I have made a fish catching post.

Bought me a new to me boat from a fellow forum member. The "Shallow Minded". Its a home made glass over plywood boat. Bought it to run the creeks.

Saturday. Headed east of the lighthouse. Picked a creek ain't telling which one but its close to stony buyou. Low tide pretty much too shallow for anything but an airboat to get into. Made it in. Found a hole and started fishing. Long story short fished through the low tide and caught a red or trout on almost every cast. At least 30 redfish. Fished up my 50 shrimp and by then the tide had started back in. Too shallow to run out but by wading in ankle deep water towing the boat I got to deep enough water to run in.

Sunday repeat except a bunch of big sheephead joined the party. Tide was later and not as low. Not as many redfish as Saturday but lots of trout. Most of the reds were over the slot.

I know this is nothing new to you expert fishermen but this was an exceptional weekend for me. Plan to do lots more creek fishing this winter especially if this was any example.

Anyway. I am pleased with my new boat. Its a lucky boat.

Is that where I was?

Must admit I don't know the area well. I have stayed out of there with my bay boat.

Plan to check out every little creeks between the lighthouse and the Aucilla this winter.

Spent some time pushing the boat this weekend too. It would have made for a good picture.
