1st blood on the new flyrod

Post by birddog »

With all this peer pressure and flyfishing, I bought a flyrod a couple a months ago. I got an Orvis Zero Gravity 8wt. and a large arbor Battenkill reel. I've been practicing in the yard for a while now. This morning I went over to the bass pond to see how the rod felt in the water.

Tied on a small Chart./white clouser and after just a couple of casts this little fellow decided he wanted to chew on it.

I have a long way to go yet, but the journey has begun.

BD, When you get ready to let your conventional gear go, just let me know - I'll take it off your hands.

In a technical way it is not cheating the fly didn't look the floating fish food.

I bet you could kill them with a little brown wad of yarn!

You could always put either it on a casting platform up front or on the poling platform.

Seriously, congrats BD. As soon as I figure out how to catch fish with conventional gear, fly rodding it maybe next.
