12-30-07 Spring Creek

Post by Littoral »

Awesome. :D
I commited myself to the flyrod regardless of the wind.
Wore myself out on 1 lb bluefish until a 19” trout redeemed my efforts.
I switched to the jigs/52MR & caught nothing for an hour and a half.
Slack low tide, no moving water.
I knew I was in the right place at the wrong time so I stuck with it.
It finally turned on in the very same spot I’d been working over the whole time.
Lot’s of redfish and very (very) nice trout. All released.
Finished with a big redfish on the fly. :-D

I just throw em. That said, I am proud to have gotten it done in a lot of wind.
Chartreuse seemed right but with only 1 Merkin left in the box I didn't want to give it to another Bluefish.
That pic will come. The red took me well into my backing and was a great fight.
It was right a the top of the slot and the first big red I've caught on the fly.
