Keaton Beach 12/31/07

Post by birddog »

Reel Slow and I launched from Keaton around 7:00 for the last trip of the year. It was a dreary, cold day but it was great to be back on the water. We made a long run to 1 of our favorite winter trout areas. We caught a few reds and trout then decided to make an even longer run to an area we had both been wanting explore. Spent the day in 10" to 3' of water. The water was very dirty, visibility was nil and the rocks were plentiful, but the fish were there and hungry.

We ended the day with 15 trout to 25" and 12 reds to 23". We caught 'em on soft jerkbaits, topwater, and spoons.

Best trout of the day. Reel Slow coaxed this girl into biting a soft jerkbait. She measured 25" and weighed 4.7 lbs.
