Announcements not part of Latest Discussion Threads?

It appears that when someone posts to the Announcement thread for the social that it does not appear in the Latest Discussion Thread window. Is this intentional?
"Good Judgement" comes from experience, ... and a lot of that..... results from "Bad Judgement".
