Does anyone know Paul Chavis?
Apparently there's a guy who's fishing the Redfish Cup next year from Tallahassee? Does anyone know him? We need to get this guy to come speak at an NFGFC meeting!!!

No offense to BD and Chalk, but the Redfish Cup is on a slightly higher level than the IFA. Anyone can fish an IFA event if they have the money...you have to be invited to fish the Redfish Cup circuit...this guy must know a little about fishing

Chalk and Birddog....I would like to invite you to fish the by invitation only "JT51 Redfish Invitational" PM me if you can make it, otherwise I'm gonna have to contact Paul Chavis.
"Good Judgement" comes from experience, ... and a lot of that..... results from "Bad Judgement".

One can always argue that politics factor into any decision, but with the new format I'm not sure I agree. Basically, they've invited the top 50 teams who've proven themselves over the last 5 years.
Knowing somebody always helps, but sponsorships and the big money that follow usually go to those who've proven themselves on the regional or national stage...then comes the invite from the Redfish Cup.
JT, it's easy to win when you've got good partners who catch all the fish...

Re: Does anyone know Paul Chavis?
I googled his redfish cup record. He usually finishes 25th to 30 th place.
I guess thats not too bad fishing against that bunch.
But I'm with Barhopr...I think Chalk and Birddog can take him.

I never said they couldn't, they just haven't had the opportunity yet. I am wondering who's boat they're gonna be fishing out of for the Orange Beach and Pensacola tourneys when they're gonna be running to Mississippi or Louisiana...
Anyways, I hope they kick ass...it'd be cool to know someone famous.

I'm not going to argue who swings the bigger stick...but I agree with Casey, he could be an interesting speaker. Would be cool to hear some of the behind the scenes stuff. I'd be all for BD and Chalk giving us their rundown as well as they go through the year.

Birddogs' NFGFC responsibilities include securing speakers for 2008. Maybe he will consider getting Mr. Chavis to speak.

Re: Does anyone know Paul Chavis?
Don't know him...As with most of the guys that I have meet personally on the professional circuit, they put their pants on just like you and me and will probably be more than willing to do what he can.
BTW: Tournament angling is 60% knowing and 40% Luck, some days it's 99% luck...If we have to run over 40 miles one way, we probably won't , it's a fishing tournament not a riding one
...But if Lake and Bay calls with a 20' Boca Grande with a 250
...We might let it roll

There are 5 Chavis's in the phone book...You have a 1/5 chance
