Bush hooking Cats in Talquin
Can someone with Talquin bushhooking experience give a basic primer on the technique? Mostly wnat to know general where to try - as in river mouths, near channel or on flats, etc. Also bait of choice - cut fish or liver or what? Also time of day-- I was thinking of setting out lines predawn but I know most do it at night.

we go down little river and bushook we mostly use liver dipped in stinkbait but you could catch them on just about anything.

Run them late evening/afternoon and then check them through the night.
Daytime will not produce near as many fish.
My dad always uses salted strips of mullet- but most anything that will stay on the hook will work.

I always like to have the last hook baited and in the water about dark. I hardly ever fish water over 4-5 foot deep, I also like to keep the bait bout a foot of the bottom. As for bait bout anything will work but I prefer cut bass shiners. GOOD LUCK!

Ivory soap works great and crickets too! On Talquin we usually use shad scooped from our lights while crappie fishing. They die but the catfish love them and they are free.
