Ochlockonee River
Promised my nephew and brother a trip for their visit, but Mother Nature didn't get the memo. We launched at the ORSP around 11:30 this morning. Tide was still extremely low, but we managed to slide Fin-Esse into the basin and eased out the channel. Only a foot or so at the mouth. Saw Sopchoppy Redneck blast by, but he disappeared upriver.
We ran into the teeth of the steady east wind and ended up on the Sopchoppy. No good. Tried to tuck up next to the bank to cast into the channel, but it was too cold and choppy. Gave it up and ran back inside the marsh. Anchored near a creek mouth and proceeded to toss Gulp Molting Shrimp, fresh dead real McCoys and DOAs. Water temp read a chilly 53.5 degrees. Didn't expect anything, but as the tide starting flowing back in we got a few timid hits. Sacrificed some fresh scambi and my brother missed a couple on the Gulp. DOA 1/2-ounce shrimp in rootbeer glitter with glo tail proved to be the ticket. I was twitching it just enough to keep it off the bottom as it drifted along with the tide. Hooked one for my six-year-old nephew, who proceeded to land his first-ever sea trout. Just off the mark, so back his trophy went. Hooked and fought a few others before we called it a day. Garrett is getting over a cold, so we didn't want to push it. Still, he was casting like a pro before the day was over and even bit the tails off a couple shrimp to release scent, so I think I've created a monster.
Can't wait to get him back down when the weather and water is a little warmer. Great day and a fun time with my bro and nephew in spite of the howling winds.

Re: Ochlockonee River
I was down there sunday and wassome kind of cold and windy, there were 2's and 3's in the river. When We were putting my 18 foot G3 in at the state park somehow we went off the end of the ramp, it was a very low tide. The only way I ended up getting the boat trailer out was wrapping my anchor rope around the axle and pulling with the boat while my buddy put my Z71 in 4X4 and somhow it popped up just enough to get it out without loosing the axle. This is the first problem i've ever had with this ramp, and I would have been in trouble if I was by myself.

Good show
After my weekend, I'm impressed that you caught a saltwater fish! Good job on creating a monster too!

Mookbait! At least 401 times better than live bait!
