Anyone done it... Do I need to cut an access plate and bolt the legs thru - or can I just screw and seal it to the deck?

Mine is just screwed and sealed but it came installed from the factory that way.

What kind of Boat? Do you have a pic of the Deck?


I am planning on having a casting platform made and having a receiver for a leaning post welded to it so I can have the best of both without cutting into the deck.

You need to cut an access panel and bolt through. You need an access panel if for nothing else to check what's underneath.

Sea Pro 2100 Bay Boat.. there is a gas tank right below and behind where Im going to mount, but this boat came from the factory with a L.P. as an option...
it's clear below, had to cut bolt heads off cooler seat and they fell straight down into the bilge area, i can push a screw driver down into the holes and not hit...
Suggestions to fill 8 bolt holes? Marine Tex?

How thick is the deck? You might need to glass the underside of the holes and use some resin thickened with cabosil to fill the holes most of the way.

Through bolting is your best way to go.
