Tournament day

Post by Welby »

Saturday Morning Skeeter22 and myself headed out in search of the ever elusive REDFISH ! Headed out the Aucilla with stars in the sky and more water in the river than I had expected (that would be the only time the rest of the day that I had more water than I expected). I took a turn through the west pass at wide open throttle and heard Skeeter moan with skepticism. After I stopped the boat I ask Skeeter what that moaning sound was about coming through the west pass. He said that he thought to himself........."This is gonna be ugly". Just about sunrise I got my first bite, a nice 20" Red.

After that the water left................EVERYWHERE !!!!!!!!...we crusied and crusied and the water (or lack there of) would not let us in the creeks we wanted to try. We hooked up on and landed a couple more Red's the rest of the day but took no more pictures. Somewhere around 1 PM I landed the last fish of the day, a 25" 5.4 lb Red good for 7th place in the tournament.......I'll take it. I feel like I learned more about the area with the water so low than I had previously learned on any other fishing trip. Info I hope to apply to future trips to the coast.

Technique used was Chunk and wind :-D :-D

Thanks for sharing a good day with me Skeeter.

I can't wait till next time... 8)
