How much should I pay?

Any help figuring a ballpark price on this boat would be much appreciated.
It’s a 1998 23 foot V-Series Carolina skiff. It has a 90 Honda with low hours and proper maintenance. Pics aren’t great but they tell part of the story. Bimini Top, Lowrance and Garmin electronics, Trolling motor (don’t know the thrust but “right” for the boat), magic tilt trailer.
I plan on using this boat for a new business.

This is what I'd like to upgrade too- more room for all my dad and wife's stuff.
Ive been watching the paper and on line for about a year.
I've seen them in the 10k -15k range depending on condition.

check the floors Lit. those consoles screwed to the floor can cause water to get in the foam/hull. no rot but can make the floor soft and the added weight of the water. Going into the Pelican rescue business?

I paid 6500 but it had an much older motor no trolling motor. I would think it would take about 10k much more than that your getting to close to a new $.

Yeah, I have seen that happen on two other boats and the weight would be a big issue.
I’m thinking that it’s underpowered and that may be more of a factor with the weight I plan to carry.

10K was what I had in mind so that helps a lot. I can’t really lose on this deal. My father-law owns the boat and he doesn’t have much use for it. He bought it 2 years ago for quite a deal and he’ll let me pay it off in payments. He just asked me to come up with a price.

It's advanced kayak fishing. Mothership. This pic comes from an outfit that works the Everglades. I have about 6 primary sites in mind that I know experienced kayak people would pay to get to. I’m not concerned about giving this plan away because I intend to have a top notch product that would welcome and benefit from competition.

Mine had an older 90 and I went to a newer 120 Johnson.

I wouldn't expect the boat to fly people will get wet.

You will get there just don't expect to get there fast.

I would bet it will do better than you think.

Seatrout99 has the 21 DLX with a 90 Etec. I think his max speed is a little over 30 with 2 guys.

I would think that with 5-6 adults and 300 pounds of kayaks it might be a few minutes getting on plane.

I'd hold out for a boat more like the one in your picture. A basic caroline skiff, nothing fancy 24-27 footer with a 150.

My 2380 with a 120 does 37 mph with four fatties and a ton of gear and ice.

The 27 with a max hp would be cool they don't plane like most boats they push the water and then it sort of and roles up on top.

Not lightning fast hole shots but it gets up and rolls.

I bet the boat would do what you want done and while I don't I know guys that have gone off 20 + miles in one.

You best get a wet suit they will soak your butt.

Hey Lit, In answer to the title of your post, I can tell you what i payed for my skiff last year. I bought a 1998 19' Carolina skiff with a Johnson 120hp looper for $3000.
It was pretty much stripped down at the time other than the front platform and the center console. I built a rear platform and added a poling platform and a trolling motor, so I have about $4200 total in the boat. I can fit two kayaks in it for some mothership action as well. It won't win any beauty contests, but it is a reliable boat that is capable of performing well in the areas I like to fish. Hope this helps.

Talltails, if I were just choosing a boat for fishing your's is real close to what I'd get.
I have the 23 as a real easy option that I can work into my business plan.
I expect I can get a great price on it.
Also, I know it'll ride wet, but I haven't been in many a boat that won't when the conditions say so.

If you can get that boat for a price you can afford and it falls below a book value than I say get it.

Put a fin on it and prop it for the weight it will plane out. Just not at mach speed.
