Tallahassee Trout

Post by bman »

What a great day! You guys know I work on most weekends. So we took today as a "Saturday."
My wife packed a picnic lunch and we drove out to the Doctors spring fed trout pond.
Its $25 a day to fish- Fly Fishing only, barbless hooks and catch and release. Unless you gut hook a trout and then you can take it home.
It was a cloudy day so I figured the fish should bite all day- we got there about 10am.
We were greeted by his ferocious guard dogs...

I rigged up under the oaks while Jessi set up our lunch. Broke in my NFGF Hat!
Image
I used my 4wt with a 3lb tippet- Started out with a hopper / cricket imitation because I could see fish striking the top.
Look at that form! First time I have used my fly rod in almost two years.
Image
After several missed fish I pulled out my secret magic fly and started catching fish.

Dang these fish pulled on my little 4wt!

Total for the day (10am - 3pm)
At least 10 trout way over 10 nice bream, didn't get a photo but some of them were big.
And a great lunch prepared by my wife!

We took home a couple of fish that were hooked bad- Had one for dinner last night!
Dang I'm a lucky man!

Some friends and I attempted to go out there last Sunday. We had not done our research and showed up with spinning outfits. Needless to say, we did not get to fish. I always thought this elusive trout pond was a myth. Good to see that you caught a mess.

How does the pay system work. What I mean is, what if I want to take my son and/or daughter. If I cast the rod out for them and let strip it back and catch the fish, would I have to pay for each of us or just once? Could we take turns fishing with one rod?

Is there a number to call to set up appointments and ask these kind of questions?

Thanks.

First- I DID NOT PUT A TROUT PELLET ON MY FLY!!
I was tempted  but didn't do it.

2nd- the details.
Yes every person has to pay- kids included. so if you, your son and daughter go its $75
here are the rules
