What do you use for leader?

Post by Good Times »

What kind of Flourocarbon leader do you use? What is good?

I'm looking for the good stuff today after having some Berkley Vanish just break like it was made out of a rubber band.

I lost one of my biggest bass ever on Vanish... Really it was big!

After losing that one I read the box- wet your knot first then cinch it down.
Apparently the heat from friction kills that line.

I always wet fluorocarbon well when tying the knot.

For inshore, I use 20 lb Seaguar. This is mainly for the abrasive resistant qualities needed when fishing around oyster bars. And yes, always wet the knot before cinching it.

Well, I think I'll go ahead and switch to Seaguar. I will also start wetting the knots. You learn something everyday. Thanks fellas!

YO-ZURI for me every time......  I used the heavy leaders sword fishing and sail fishing .......and it seemed to be the most abrasive resistant in those applications, so I just down sized for inshore.
If you release them they will grow!!!!
