East Flats Sunday

Post by Reel Slow »

T. and my daughter and I launched about 9am this morning to fog on the water. We found some tailing reds pretty early on and in the fog I was able to pole her within 30' or so of tailing reds. She made a nice cast to a tailing fish with a Charlie's worm and had good fight on...but it got off. That school waned and it was my time on the casting platform for a little fly time.

T. began what will be years of experience on the platform :D and did a great job keeping up with the boat.

Sun peaked out and it was glass smooth and gorgeous

Had a nice upper slot red follow a clouser but refused it...switched around a few flies and ended up with a deer hair fly that dealt with the shallow water.

Spooky fish, a bit of fussin on my part, but finally I spotted a nice red a good way out. A quick adjustment by T and I laid it 2' to its right...follow and bam!

At the boat:

A fat 28" over 9 pounds on the boga :-D

Tried a bit more but Christine had all the watching she could take! So I gave up the platform and she had her best day using a soft plastics...mostly Charlies

The Reds:

We probably caught 15 or more reds and a half dozen nice trout...We left em biting at high tide! It was a very good day
