Big Bend Observations?

Wondering what others have seen in terms of changes in the range and numbers of species in our area.
My recent Cobia is an example that adds up to nothing by itself. (n of 1)
Add it to Charles' Red Mangrove and Snook not far off and we get an ancecdotal set that starts to form a pattern.
Or not?
Also consider what what we are not seeing. For example, I think, as of yesterday, the trout are already on the flats.
They were never really much up the creeks or rivers this winter.
BTW, this is a fishing forum and a fish question so please try and be relevant. I get the controversy.

I just read that a man caught a Swordfish on the beach with his hands in Sport Fishing Magazine or Florida Sportsman.

Land Sharks may be a reality some day. Sorry if I offended any lawyers.

They target tarpon in the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area...the lady at the fly shop in virginia beach was telling about it back in the fall.

Fish have fins and do swim...read in FS about a bonefish being tagged in Biscayne bay and recaught a year later in the Bahamas that sucker swam through some deep water

It was a tarpon in the pictures.
I didn't know think they would go that far north in the dead of winter. It was strange to me.

Wasn't there a snook in wakulla springs this past summer? I could be wrong but I swear I remember reading about it somewhere....probably here!!!

I've actually caught several in the aucilla in Dec & January.

There are lots of Permit on the offshore towers in the summer.

If you look at my post from IP last fall, you'll see several members have encountered schools of Cero Macks in the past year...not typically a north florida fish.

Tarpon regurlaly travel up to the Eastern Shore of Virginia. Thats not uncommon in the summer. Must have stuck around a spring or the hot ditch in the winter.

I've heard recent reports of Manatee staying in this area rather than their usual southern migration. Their was a recent case of a manatee found very sick due to cold conditions causing respirtory problems. Apparantly the mild winters are encouraging them to stick around.

Our rivers are well within the historical range of Manatees year-round.
