Plug Question

Post by CATCH 22 »

Anyone know about not running NGK's in a Johnson? I was told only run Champions by a reputable Mechanic and want to hear the many motor Guru's thoughts on the matter. And if so, what plug do you recommend? Thanks

See what your owners manual says. Mercury advises only NGK plugs. I wanted to put performance plugs on BB and I was sternly told not to by my warranty man. He buy the way is primarily a Johnson/evinrude man.

Go with what the owners manual suggests. Can't go wrong with that.

I got a couple OMC shop manuals (the real ones, published by OMC for authorized service centers, not the junk ones from the book store) for a few different motors. All of them say Champion only. I ain't one of them gurus you're talkin bout, but Champion ain't really expensive, so why use a different one...
