Water Clarity
With all the recent rainfall we have had, I got a couple questions about the changing water conditions, especially around the river mouths. Does anyone prefer the darker water? I've heard by some people that it improves redfishing because they are less likely to be spooked. Also what types and colors of lures do people prefer to use when the water has such little visibility?
Re: Water Clarity
I believe the fish seem more comfortable about inhaling lures or live baits fished in murky water. When the water is clear, I can see them, and if they can see me, they split. in clear water, if I can get a lure far enough away from the boat, my chances of a hook-up increase...

Re: Water Clarity
most folks say dark water calls for dark lures, and bright color lures for clear.

Re: Water Clarity
I prefer darker, muddier water with lures that match the water color somewhat.

Re: Water Clarity
The muddy water is a little warmer than clear water since the suspended silt and other particles absorb heat - on a cold or chilly day that may attract fish. In the summer, the opposite is probably true since the warmer the water the less oxygen it holds.
