PSJ 3/9

Post by BayGator »

Put in about 8:30 this morning and headed south to try and catch the last of the incoming tide. Fished some shallow grass for about an hour with nothing happening with a steady north wind pushing me along. Had 3 fish follow a jerk bait all the way to the boat but would not eat. Switched to a 3" pearl white gulp and had a fish on the first cast.

Spent a few more minutes on that same flat and got this guy to eat.

Moved a little further toward the cape and found a nice school cruising a sand bar and caught 5 fish all between 23-26". This was the biggest of the 5 at 26"

The tide finally quit moving and the fish turned off. Messed around and almost got stuck in the middlegrounds waiting on the tide to change looking for some black drum but saw nothing. Moved back to the east side of blacks island and the wind had shifted and was blowing me toward Presnells. Found some really cool root beer/rust colored water and grass and tossed a top dawg for about an hour. Got a big fish following it to about 40 feet from the boat, stopped the bait, and BAM!!!! Fish on, peeling drag! Thought I had a good hook set and grabbed the radio to let a friend know to come over and fish this area with me, looked back only to see my top dawg floating on the surface :smt011 :smt011 :hammer: :hammer:

The wind picked back up and headed to the house with 7 fish landed, 3 close calls, one break off, and not one trout to be seen.

Tackle used:
Captain Mikes 1/4 oz Spoon = 0 fish
Renegade jerk bait = 3 fish sniffing at it
Top Dawg = 1 fish break off
3" Pearl White Gulp Shrimp = 7 Redfish 19-26"
