St. Marks/Aucilla 3/9
Morning folks. I put in at the light house around 9am yesterday to try for some Grouper. Made it a couple of miles offshore and then decided that two mile of arse whooping was all that I could take. I turned around and headed to some bars at the mouth of the St. Marks. The water was extremely stained. I bounced a jig and pulled one short trout before I decided to head east.
I eased up to Palmetto Island to find numerous tailing reds, all spooky fish. I waited, and waited and waited for the tide to turn and when it did I moved to the mouth of a creek. Caught four reds all about 22" on a Bomber and then the wind died. I scooted out to about 20' of water and trolled for about an hour, nothing. By this point the tide was moving so I decided to head to the flats outside of the Aucilla.
I pulled up to the spot and caught and released a 24", 21" and 18" trout before I decided to call it a day. I did, however, see multiple fish that I would guess went over the 24", 25" mark. Good to finally see some nice fish on the flats. I anticipate seeing many more this weekend given the forecasted higher temps this week. All in all it was a pretty slow day, but it was sure good to get back out there.

He sure did, got a hell of a steal too. Competition should be really good this year, and he would play a part in it if he wasn't afraid to take it anywhere but St. Marks.jsuber wrote:Good to hear. Our little buddy has a keyserboat now too. Looks like stiff competion this year.
