Aucilla 3/9

Post by SHOWBOAT »

With Saturday's high winds I decided to do some needed boat maintenance. Replaced the non-functioning trailer lights with new LED lights, changed lower unit grease, and replaced a tire on the trailer that was wearing unevenly (not sure why, yet).

Sunday dropped the boat in at the Aucilla. Water was low in the morning, but we headed out and started fishing in about 2' of water. Managed three reds to 23" in the shallow flats. When the water came in we hit some bars and tried a couple creeks. Bumped two really nice trout off of the first bar and picked up short red in one of the creeks. Pretty slow all day though.

Water was stained everywhere we went and the wind was brutal. Had a good time nonetheless. Saw about as much wildlife this weekend as I can remember seeing in a given a weekend around here: about 30 turkeys while walking the dog saturday, 4 deer, a 'coon, otter and eagle were all seen on Sunday.

Can't wait until next weekend....

Good day trying. Maybe too close behind the storm.
Your trailer axle could be bent or out of alignment. Get out your measuring tape and check it.

thanks for the ideas about why the tire may have worn unevenly. It was actually a pretty interesting wear pattern. Only about 12" of circumfrence was messed up and that was all in the outer row of tread. In the effected portion of the tire portions were worn down to the belt while other portions still showed good tread.

I didn't notice any wear on the new tire from yesterday, so I'm wondering if this is something that happened slowly over time.

As for water temp, I don't know...it was definitely warmer than the air though!

That sounds like the tire was "hopping". Wheel could have been way out of balance. Could be a spring problem. Tire could have been out of round.

I have got to quit posting at work. I used the word "portion" 3x in one sentence..... :smt011

I was thinking out of balance as well, but doesn't that normally result in uneven wear around the entire tire? This was probably less than 1/3 of the circumfrence of a 165/80/13 tire. It has been on the wheel since I bought the boat about 15 months ago and has traveled several hundred, if not thousands, of miles.
