3-12 - Keaton

Post by Reel Slow »

T and I had a good excuse to go fishing today and took it :-D

Headed to Keaton...public ramp closed..launched at marina about 9:30. Wind steady 10 up to 20 later. N to W as day went on.

Early not much at all happening. First 3 hours no water was moving...saw only a handful of fish, got a couple looks but no takers. Experimented with 3 flies, but came back to one Nole showed me...easy to cast, great in shallow water.

About 12:30 the tide began to punch in with West wind. Found some reds schoolin and working a flat. Wind was bad, but just cast to flashes. Hooked 3, landed 2 25" fish...thanks again Nole

Reds were schoolin, trout were in pockets. Landed 5 decent trout 20 - 23 over next hour.

Great stuff RS. You are getting dangerous with that long stick.  Purple and black toad . . . love that fly. I'll need to tie a couple dozen more for the Spring onslaught.
