Keaton Beach Friday March 14th
My fishing buddy drove in from Savannah yesterday. We got on the road before six and had a nice drive to Perry Fla. and saw a very pretty red sky this morning. We were at Hardee's getting breakfast when the weather started to turn for the worst. We got in the truck and headed to Keaton, the closer we got the worse it looked. We walked in and looked at the radar and did something that was a fisrt for me. Decided to call it and headed home. We looked at the storm damage and headed out. It was nice in Perry and started to go back but all reports from the coast and the radar was ugly so we kept going. Pulled up and loaded the Bass Hunter and headed for a pond, it was the color of Coffie with Cream, made a phone call and was told we couldn't go to a pond we have fished for years headed home dropped her in here and went around the pond had a couple of hits and called it a long aggravating no fish catching day.

Yesterday it was taboo today it is normal what the heck will they be doing tomorrow?

RED SKY IN MORNING, SAILOR TAKE WARNING. That's what I always heard, must be something to it. Don't feel bad, WAM, the exact same thing happened to me and a buddy last Wednesday. Turned off 19 in Perry to Keaton road and the sky was ugly soon as we turned off. Be glad you didn't try to go out, we did and got very wet and cold.

I saw the red sky, thought about "red sky at morning...' , remembered the radar showing rain headed to Keaton. and wondered about WAM's trip.
Found out at lunch it was a no-go. Sorry WAM all that effort and still no fishing!
Invite your buddy back when the weather's good and I'll help out with a trip, while showing you how to "ketch'em!"..

Sorry about that WAM - it's like I tell Mojo when we get skunked on a 10-12 hour day - it's just God gracing you with an even greater appreciation for the incredible day of fishing you will have in the near future.
As far as the red sky at night - sailor's delight / red sky morning, sailor's warning - yes there truly IS something to that. Red sky is caused by pressure change refracting the wavelengths of sunlight at different angles so that it appears red from your viewing angle. I may have this backward, but I believe it is caused by relative high pressure. Fronts move west to east this side of the equator, so if you see it at sunset, it's to the west and the barometer is rising. If you see it in the morning, it means the pressure is higher to the east, and you are prolly in the middle of a low pressure front / falling baraometer, and thus you's likely to experience some weather. In Australia, I believe the opposite is true...then again they're getting ready for winter right now...what do they know.

Sorry to hear about the lack of a trip but you got some sight seeing in and helped my Exxon Moble stocks. I hope we have better weather this weekend.
