St. Andrews 03/22/08

Had an excellent day with Lil Chalk, he lasted from 8 until 4....To top that we only caught one trout. He was a real trooper, lasting all day without much catching going on...I'll take a day like that any time.

I started out with intentions of taking him to a place I had found some trout and reds in a creek. We started out in the creek and started noticing large dead fish floating around. Here are a few pics:

These fish are over three foot...at first I thought it was big mullet, more like king kong mullet  ...Got to noticing a lot of hydrilla floating around...I'm close to the dam to Deerpoint lake....Figured the fish are freshwater carp that got washed over the dam with the recent monsoon rains. There are probably 100+ dead carcasses floating around in this creek.

We did manage to catch one trout in this creek, that was quick released at the boat.

Managed to find three schools of reds that I knew they would be there, but only had two follows...one school split and went around the boat on both sides :o

I spent most of the day looking for trout and an easter egg (special place that holds reds)...I found alot of places that didn't hold nothing, so I can eliminate them from the list. Had a great day with my son, that's all that really mattered.

If I was going tomorrow (hint warrior) I would not stop unless there is grass, those places held fish today, to bad I didn't pattern them until the afternoon.

Nice day with your son, well worth it. Strange about the carp, though.
