3/21: Fished North at several locations from 18"-5'. Fished rocks, grass, close to shore, deeper.............didn't do much, caught a few shorts and nothing more. Headed back to the Marina at about 1600 to grab some chow. Got back from the restaurant and the crowd was assembling for the cookout. Casey, Bad Behavior and crew did a great job organizing and feeding the masses.
Had the opportunity to meet some new folks, which is always one of the best parts of the tourney's for me. 3/22: Got a late start with the wife and daughter. Decided to fish same areas as previous day looking to enjoy the day/company. Hit the first spot, powered down and deployed the trolling motor towards some rocks in close. Britani (daughter) got a wind knot in braided line and I quickly cut, retied and was making the comment that next cast is going to produce a fish. Jerk bait barely hit the water when a 26" red smacked it, wife netted. Saw a tailing red nearby, but did a poor job communicating to Brit to cast in that direction. Landed fish and continued to troll in. Fished the rocks and decided to drift back out with tide. Tied into a 21" red and handed pole to Brit to land, again with wife netting. Good start; two fish in the box before 0930. Moved further North. Brit hooked and landed another red (pup) and I caught one 16" trout. Just couldn't seem to get into 'em after we boated the early reds. Got back to the dock and felt a little comfort in the fact that it was a tough day for most.
3/23: Brit and I woke up early and decided to head out early for a couple hours before driving back to Albany. Wife decided to stay in and wait for our return. Noticed the wind was stronger than the day before and made for a little rougher ride to the first spot. Made one drift and decided to take it to the hill. Saw Reel Slow heading out as we were close to the Marina.
