Keaton Beach 3-22-08

Post by Billy GoDowns »

This fishing trip started out like every other one, leave the house Fri. about lunch get to perry get ice and some cheap gulps at wilsons and on to Spring Warrior to fish 5 or 6 hours that afternoon and then spend the night and fish the next day. Everything was going according to plan until i went to let the trim down on the motor and it would not go down    . Called some buddies over the radio that were already on the water to let them know that we were headed to keaton to borrow some tools from them and proceed to fix the boat. Six hours later buddies arrive with 4 limits of blacks. Finally get the trim workable and then begin to fesat on the fresh blacks and BUDWIESER :lick: :lick: which i really needed after the trim problem.
Next mourning we decided to put in at keaton as the rest of our croud put in there. Had no idea that there was a fishing tournment going on. First stop north of keaton 3 cast and 3 keeper trout off of a catch 2000. My dad has not even got his pole in the water. Well glad we caught them blc we did not catch another keeper until 1:30. We did catch over 45 short trout during that time on a variety of gulp, CT, Catch 200, and top water. About 1:30 a buddie that is fishing next to us suggest that since we have not caught any keepers in a while that we go to rock island. So 30 min later we start to fish and the bite was on with mulit double hook up's. But we were only cathcing them in an area about the size of a football field in 5 ft. of water. Dift out of that area and the bite went to nothing. After 15 or so difts by both boats we now have 7 keeper trout, 1 spanish, and on hugh blue that was fun to watch my dad fight. Decided to call it a day. Got to meet Bad Behavior in the canal at keaton. We were the ones that stoped and talk to you for a few min in the 19 carolina skiff as you were dock next to Pat. All in alll a got day on the water can't waite till next time. 8)
