Home for Spring Break -- St Marks 3/22

Post by ab7bear »

Made an offshore trip out of St. Marks Saturday before i had to head back off to school. Went with my dad, girlfriend, uncle from South Dakota, and a buddy who's movin to Mississippi and had a pretty good day. We ran about 40 miles out to 60 ft of water. we trolled up to the hole and managed one pretty good king on a stretch 30. Never anchored on the spot once we got there and just motor fished cause the fish were pretty well spread out over about 3 hundredths of mile. we managed our 5 gag and 1 red grouper in a little over an hour. our smallest grouper was probably 8-10 pounds and only had 2 shorts all day. Our fish of day was a gag that weighed in at 25 pounds. Winds from the north so we were runnin with the waves headed out...seas probably up to 2 ft runnin out in the mornin. it really slicked off in the afternoon and you couldve made a run offshore in a flats boat with no problems. hopefully these pics will work i'm not too good this picture deal.

Heck of a trip. One tip, next time let the girlfriend hold the fish for the pics ;-)
