Headed East of the lighthouse both days.
Friday I put in about 7:40 at the lighthouse. Ran to deeper spot #1 looking for trout. Water was rough, dirty and cold. Said forget it. Ran to deeper spot #2. Same story. Idled in and fished Cobb Rocks without any luck. Went in shallower and, as the tide came in, moved into the creek mouths around 1:10PM. Boated 4 reds in slack water near creek mouths on the Johnson "Silver Minnow" Spoon in gold. Reds were 22, 19, 23 and 16. Had another one come off the hook - he rolled and I saw him and he looked nice (25?). Water was about 64 degrees (if memory serves) when I started idling out on the falling tide. Setup one drift for trout in some deeper water on the flats but the spot I was in was murky and I didn't get a nibble. Packed it in about 3:30.
Saturday I went to the lighthouse again with my buddy. Trailer frame kept falling down on the edge of the cement ramp and we gave up on the lighthouse. Prolly could have powered her back into the canal but thought better of it. Tide was low. Trailered back around to Shields. Idled past the Fort and the ramp was open.

. Ran East of the lighthouse again. Fished a little West of where I fished on Friday. Water was clearer. Dinged up the prop on a rock NE of Grey Mare when I was idling in

Eventually ran out of water and just drifted out a little waiting for the tide. Moved laterally away from another boat (that guy must think we are idiots - he heard us run up on rocks like four times

) and eventually the wind quit. Threw topwater (She Dog) and had a decent trout (18?) up to the gunnel but he spit the hook while my buddy and I were jacking around with my new boga grip.

. Tried a creek with no luck. Went out of the creek and fished the grassline with the trusty Silver Minnow Spoon in gold and between the two of us we boated four reds 19, 21, 26 and 22. The 26 I actually caught on an Exude RT Slug white and chart because my spoon had become a weed rake. Had another decent red break the leader. Idled out with the falling tide and setup a trout drift in deeper water. Caught two trout 15.00001 and 14.999999 on gulps and called it a day. It was almost 6:00 by then. SW wind had picked up and the rivermouth was a little sporty running back in. Water temp was a couple degrees warmer than it was on Friday. Never saw 65 however.
