Aucilla 4-2, Spring has sprung.

Post by DixieReb »

Me and wife went to Aucilla yest., got on water about 10:30 and fished the mouth first. Got 2 good bites and Neva was cutoff right at the tripod. Went out in 5 ft. spotted bottom and got into good trout right off. Neva puts on a trout clinic and has 3 inthe box before I get my first. Every time I looked up, she had a fish coming in. Then I realized she had a 1/4 oz. hook on and a color gulp I never used much, the molting color. The trout loved it, I rigged up the same way and got a big flounder on the first cast- I'll take it! :lick: We put several more trout in the box, caught a few shorts but not many, and got 2 blues and a nice Spanish. Kept one blue for the grill.Tide was high at 1330, action slowed some so we roared over to some nearby rocks to try topwater. Didn't find anything there, water rough and wind picked up out there so we limped back over to spot # 1 and found 2 more big trout. Had to leave at 1530 to get back for a family supper, made it back to ramp by 1600. Ended up with 8 trout to 21'', 1 blue, 1 spanish and one big flounder. It was fun being out with the wife again, and as always I learned a thing or two from fishing with her. We only had one bag of the molting color and made them last, but they paid off. The weather was great, got a little windy in the afternoon but not too bad.
We lost a lot of good fish at the boat and had many drop the hook right after the strike. :smt010 They are biting good, can't wait to go again!! :smt004
