Carrabelle Area 04/05/08

Post by Chalk »

Got up at 3:00 and was on the road in about 20 minutes. Check the radar as I am pulling out of the subdivision. Radar says, "Your gonna die."

Arrive at JBTs about two hours later, ran into TroutTrent and One Keeper, as well as JSuber at the gas station.

Meet Cairotrout and Bad Behavior at the JBT's, as well as Reel Cowboy and my assistant Tincan

Me and my assistant head off to the west in search of a fat sack, so we can talk some smack at the weigh in. Arrive at the ramp, launch and idle out of the boat basin and cut the motor off. It didn't take long for something that really wanted my BiteABait Top walker really bad...first fish of the day was a small red. A few minutes later I catch another one, a keeper. I decide it's to short and tossed it back (note to self never throw back a keeper on tournament day).

Ended up scratching a trout out of a drift here and there...Tincan was the high stick with the tourist rig, pulling in a trout or two on nearly every drift. I managed to drag a few to the boat, fish were biting really soft. I felt only one bite all day and it turned out to be the big fish of the day and tournament. The rest of the fish were just there, dead weight. We lost three fish that would of taken the gold, but they lived to be caught again another day.

We ended up finishing behind Baygator with 8.05 lbs as well as big fish...that more or less broke me even on fuel cost from Panama City

Congrats to Baygator for the first place finish and Bowed Up for winning the bluefish pot.

Had a blast, good to see everyone...enjoyed it Tincan

Congrats on finding some fish Chalk   All we could muster up was 1 barely legal keeper (lost a nice one at the boat), a few spanish, a snot cat, 1 big gar and a crabtrap with a few blue crabs. If you were at the weighin, you saw me drive up with it in tow :smt005 .....unknowingly of course. Makes sense why that lady was waving to me now   I even lost all my crabs between Jerry's and the lighthouse :smt012 Trent thought it was the best thing he saw all day I think. Oh yeah, forgot to mention getting SOAKED the entire way back in to hill....wonderful conditions today

When asked if we should keep this fish I believe i said "Put it in the box".

It was a tough fishing day, any way you slice it. But Chalk and I wouldn't know how to fish together if the wind wasn't howling. We both had money fish to the boat, and couldn't get them in the net. They were biting soft, and good hookups were few and far between.

Thanks, partner. Can't wait till next time.

Being that I will probably be prefishing for IFA tournaments in May, June, September and November, I do not think you have any points to make up. You better keep an eye on Casey Cook though he was giving Baygator the full court press at the weigh in. :smt005

I was just giving BG instructions as to how he should feed my pet St. Joe trout over the next month so that they'll be extra fat come weigh-in time... :-D
