Keaton Beach 4/6/08

Post by Hit-n-Miss »

:-D Loanshark one of his employees and myself hit the water at the crack of dawn sunday. Got out the canal and saw the ominous black cloud on the horizon. :o But we were there and going to do some fishing. Decided to stay pretty close to the channel as to make a hasty retreat if needed. The water temp was 69 degrees all day. And there was a good topwater bite most of the time we were there. Had to run in once to dodge a shower but went back out until around lunch when a massive squal line was coming. Wound up with 7 up to 21" a few shorts and many rock bass. Lost a huge spanish while reeling in the lines to run in. :smt011 And as usual I lost 3 at the boat while trying to get the net. :smt010

Good catch. You were smart to stay in close to run from the bad weather.

:-D Forgot to mention that Loanshark broke his mainline on a fish under a cajun thunder and we chased that bobber around for about ten minutes before he snagged it with a net and hauled in an 18" trout. It was quite comical. :-D

Not a bad haul considering the fine weather you were dealing with

Hey, the fish on cork story made me think of when my Dad lost his pole overboard, pulled in by big fish. Two hrs. later we snagged his line and brought the pole up, still had a 18'' trout on the hook! Amazing how those things happen. :D

:-D Talked to some other folks that were down sun. One group got 11 the other got 14. Both groups were mostly using white gulps. :-D
