Small engine repair - Johnson 9.8

Post by DwayneFisherman »

I have a 70's era Johnson 9.8 hp motor that normally runs perfectly well, but could not get started this weekend.

Anyone know a good repair shop to take it to here in Tallahassee?

A lawn mower shop can fix a 70's era outboard :-D but if ya want ta take it to a marine mech. Porter marine in Tally, Advantage marine in Medart or Jerry's marine in Panacea   if it has set for any amount of time, the flywheel could have rust or the points could be corroded

The easy way ta know if it's ta do with the fire, is ta check it at that spark plug wire while pulling the cord  some just hold the wire and pull :o while other put a phillips head screwdriver in the plug wire hole and hold it a 1/4 inch or less from a bolt head and watch for the spark when pulling  "it's easier ta do with the plug removed"
