St. Marks 4/8

Post by Just Fish »

Put in at shields at 10am. As we passed the fort I noticed the old ramp is still open and folks are using it. They have started the new double ramp but only the first slab is done. It looks like parking is limited though as they are redoing the parking lot also.

So headed out to west flats first, immediately picked up a couple short trout. The tide was coming in and I wanted to try a few spots in near the oysterbars so we headed in and fished the bars for the next couple of hours. Not even a single bite. so about 1pm we headed out to the east flats and hit the shoreline. Stopped by sand cove to check for any redfish but none around. So we headed back out to deeper water about the 6-8 foot range and drifted for trout. We caught about 20, 1 keeper. Throw in a shark, a couple lady fish and a hard head and it made for an enjoyable afternoon of fishing.

Water temp was 68-71.

Looks like the big trout are still no where to be found. Sorry no pics I forgot the camera, but my 12 year old son Hunter had a blast.
