Deer Fishing! 4-13-2008

Post by jsuber »

Talltails and myself went out of Oyster Bay Sunday morning because it was just too beautiful to pass up. An incoming tide with an overcast day and low winds in the morning. Fishing was a little slow after paddling around Gull island and then we got into a big school of Gafftops and Ladyfish feeding on a school of greenies. We then left Piney Island and paddled across Dickerson Bay to Old Creek and started chumming up Deer Fish. Jason had fifty pounds of corn and only two DOA Corn Lures in Yellow and he starts yelling. Deer Tailing. Sure nuff there he was. Hard to get him to take the bait and eventually he made his way to shore after we cowboyed him up. Dumb old Doe must of had something scare it pretty bad for it to want to swim two miles across water.

Talltails picked up a nice Flattie at 16" and I caught a couple of Redfish.

I left the water and went fishing with Flounder Pounder to Otter Lake and caugtht this nice 8 lb bass, but my hands make it look smaller.

Oh yea and earlier in the week Talltails roped in this nice Trout.

Sounds like a good trip in the yaks...
And the deer topped it off! I like how you talked to it...
