32 inch red in the kayak

Post by WaltDawg »

Put in at Bottoms Rd. hoping to beat the bad weather. The wind was blowing a steady 20 knots, but it pushed us up into a nice tidal area near Piney Island. The only action I got was on topwater, but this guy laid into a Papa Dog in about 3 feet of water near one of the sheltered coves. It took me about 20 minutes to get him in the kayak.

There's nothing like an overslot red on topwater.

It was the fattest red I've ever seen

I was so worn out, I needed a refreshment.

  That there is a nice red, and in the midst of all this weather. Hasn't been super conducive to redfishing for me lately. Way to go!

That's for sure...I DUI in a kayak would be only slightly less enbarrassing than a DUI on roller skates. I been 'field sobriety tested' before while paddling on the Wacissa with a Corona while sticking out of everyone's way and not doing anything stupid. Sometimes those FWC officers just get bored I think.

*EDIT* - Then again, It might be hilarious to take them on a suoer low speed chase through really shallow water...if that ever happens PLEASE film it
